Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner was jailed in Los Angeles and charged with attempted murder, burglary, robbery, false imprisonment, and child endangerment after breaking into to his ex’s home, beating her, and running off with a $20,000 Rolex watch.
Browner was a member of the “Legion of Boom” secondary that helped Seattle to its first Super Bowl victory.
Browner isn’t the first former NFL player to get in serious trouble with the law. With a profession akin to modern day gladiators, many NFL players suffer from long-term head injuries and mental illness. It is also not uncommon for former NFL players to end up broke as a result of poor decisions. In some cases, when football ends, the drugs start, and Browner was rumored to be on cocaine for over a year before his arrest.
However, although Browner has been charged with attempted murder, it is possible that he may get a plea deal down to lesser charges, such as assault. Despite the history with his ex-partner, including violence and a restraining order, there is currently no published proof that was trying to kill her.
What is likely though, is that Browner is almost certainly going to prison for some time.
